Strange Things (Bagay Dwol) - Documentary - Coming Soon

More haiti Videos

When one asks a child on the streets of Haiti "What's up?" They say "Bagay Dwol," (pronounced: BAG-AY-DWOLL) which means "Strange Things" in Creole. It is this perspective that makes the staggering amount of homeless children in Haiti resilient, although they are almost forgotten by their own government and internationally. "Strange Things" is an honest portrait of Haiti through the eyes of "street boys," and after the wake of recent political turbulence. The film takes place in the Northern city of Cap-Haitian where the land is lush and where the history runs deep. It is a landscape of contrasts, and the site where Haiti won its Independence in 1804. Shot on Super-16mm film, super 8, underwater photography, and DV, "Strange Things" documents a Haiti that is virtually unknown.

Posted Feb 10 2009 3:24AM by kathaiti
I've based all that I've said on personal experiences and interactions with Haitians, during the time that I'd spent in Haiti...and also, being a Haitian myself, raised by Haitian parents...etc...etc...

no haitian should go to D.R because Haiti took care of D.r for 32 years back in the days. and when the U.S saw that a country like haiti with what thecall "negro" is runing the other side of the island which was predominantly white, they got outrage and help d.r gained their indepence from Haiti, if you guys wanna blame some one for the poverty in your country you should blame U.S because they don't want to see a nation of strong black people make progress

what a nonesense D.R is doing ok now, because The U.S is backing them up. you should never forget without the U.S there would be no D.R, the whole island was dominated by Haitians!!!

Why always this image of Haïti ? I have traveled the World and in Haïti and I realized how people, especially us Americans, exploit the misery of Others to make us interesting. I bet there is more homeless people in Us than in Haïti...But we are to blind to travel and see interresting things about Haïti. All we see is that they can't afford our luxury... and we conclude that they are unhappy... but in reality, they are the happiest
Posted Oct 19 2009 3:22PM by selektajoy
There is a difference between going hungry and luxury items. Even if they are happier it doesnt mean they dont have the right to food and clean water and basic rights...
